Simek A/S Delivers 100th UT 755
01 Aug 2007
Simek A/S delivered a newbuild platform supply vessel last month to Myklebusthaug Offshore AS, also of Norway, which is the 100th vessel to be built to the Rolls-Royce marine UT 755 design.
The design has been continuously improved since the fist UT 755 was delivered in 1996, and ‘Dina Supplier’ has the latest state of the art equipment onboard.
A total of 134 UT 755 designs have been built or are currentlty under construction worldwide.
Myklebusthaug Offshore AS took delivery of ‘Dina Merkur’ in February 2006. Experience of this UT 755 LC from Simek A/S has been put into the design of ‘Dina Supplier’ improving the vessel by adding a stability tank on forecastle deck level aft of the superstructure. This makes it possible to increase the fresh water capacity of the vessel by using the previous under deck stability tanks dedicated to fresh water. The loss in deck space was compensated for by lengthening the stern by 3m. The new stability tank will improve the comfort onboard for the crew by reducing the movement of the vessel in bad weather.
The 76.6m LOA, 2,332 grt vessel features a 16m beam, 712m2 of cargo deck, and achieved a speed of 15.3 knots during trials. It has been built according to the highest class in Det Norske Veritas, with class notation D.n.V. +1A1, SF, E0, Dk (+), Hl (+), Clean, Comf-V(3) and also satisfies the Norwegian authorities for worldwide trading.
Dina Supplier is the sixth UT 755L delivered from Simek A/S. The yard has three more on order. The four steel blocks for the vessel were built in Gdansk, Poland, and transported to Flekkefjord on barges for assembly in Simek A/S' heated building shed. The superstructure was assembled separately and fitted out before lifted on after the launching of the hull in May
