Support Builds for ShipRepair & Conversion 2007
01 Aug 2007
More than 70 exhibitors have confirmed for ShipRepair & Conversion 2007 in London this October, including dozens of the world’s leading shipyards.
With stand space nearing sell-out, the level of advance bookings underlines support for the UK homecoming of the ship care industry’s top annual trade show after an absence of three years.
Following appearances in Dubai in 2005 and Amsterdam in 2006, the 16th exhibition returns to the city where a 13 year run forged its status as the premier showcase for repair, maintenance, conversion and after-sales services. From now on the international touring strategy will see it alternate every other year between London and overseas.
Visitor attendance at this year’s show at Olympia’s National Hall on 10 and 11 October will be boosted by two major seminars being run in conjunction with the event. Main supporting organisation the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) is organising a one day session on the new IMO Performance Standard for Protective Coatings (PSPC), while Lloyd’s Maritime Academy (LMA) hosts a two day workshop on contract management.
Shipyard exhibitors include five UK Ship Repair Agents Association members who have signed up as event partners. They are Calvey Marine, Encompass Marine, Globetech Services, Marine Marketing International and Ship Repairers & Shipbuilders.
UK yards featured at the show include VIP lounge sponsors the A&P Group, Cammell Laird, MMS Dry Dock and Northwestern Shiprepair. Further UK yards will be represented on a members’ stand organised by the Shipbuilders’ & Shiprepairers’ Association.
The mainland Europe shipyard contingent includes Antwerp Shiprepair, Blohm+Voss, Cardama of Spain, Desan of Turkey, Lloyd Werft, Ukrainian yard Odessa, Shipdock of the Netherlands, Union Naval Barcelona/Marseille, Portugal’s Vianayard and Viktor Lenac of Croatia.
Joining them are Dubai Drydocks, South Africa’s Cape Shiprepair and Dormac, US repairer Atlantic Marine and Asian giants China Merchant Holdings (Yiu Lian Dockyards), China Shipping Industry, Keppel and Malaysian Marine Heavy Engineering.
Other stands will parade equipment and service providers such as Aalborg Industries, the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, Kongsberg Maritime, Lloyd’s Register, MAN B&W, Siemens, Turner Diesel, Tyco Electronics and Wartsila.
