Silence Prevails for ‘Spirit of Innovation’
01 Aug 2007
The pop song premise that silence is golden proved more than appropriate for Halyard Marine, which carried off the coveted ‘Spirit of Innovation Award’ for the most outstanding new product in the Innovations Showcase at Seawork 2007.
One of the highlights of the Seawork Gala Dinner, very successfully relocated to Southampton’s City Cruise Terminal for this year, the category award presentations culminated with Halyard taking top prize for their patented new Resonator Silencer.
Adding to Halyard’s established range of marine exhaust silencing and engine noise reduction solutions, the Resonator Silencer represents a technical breakthrough in the reduction of exhaust noise by filtering out specific problem noise frequencies from a band centred around the engine’s firing frequency. Whether a straight six cylinder or a V16, the Resonator Silencer significantly reduces the overall engine noise emitted.
Halyard impressed the Spirit of Innovation judges by being the first company to apply resonator technology to water injected marine silencers. The technology has been welcomed by leading leisure boat builders and is already standard on Fairlane and Sunseeker models.
There is no reason why workboat operators cannot enjoy the benefits of Halyard’s Resonator Silencer which, in addition to delivering reduced noise emissions, can also be engineered to be significantly smaller than conventional silencers, offering space saving benefits to vessel designers and operators.
The new Resonator Silencer is being manufactured in the UK by Halyard, which claims to be both the only company in the world able to manufacture and entire exhaust solution in-house and also the only one to have Lloyd’s Type Approval on its entire range of GRP exhaust components, hose and silicone couplings.
