Cameras Keep Watch on 'Galatea'

Following the successful installation of Hernis Scan Systems' integrated surveillance systems onboard the Trinity House vessels 'Patricia and 'Mermaid', Hernis has supplied its Hernis 400 system for the new Northern Lighthouse Board and Trinity House vessels built at the Remontowa shipyard in Poland.
Barry Rising of Silver Fox & Associates Ltd, the UK agents for Hernis, commented that it was great to be allowed to build on the good relationship developed from the work on Patricia and Mermaid.
'We worked on the principal of supplying similar control systems and camera stations as those fitted to the earlier vessels, so that all concerned would be familiar with what they have on board. This keeps the learning curve to a minimum, which is always a
practical thing to do and we like that. HERNIS has built up quite some reputation for supplying practical, reliable equipment that keeps working under extreme conditions. The reputation was started in the challenging conditions of the North Sea and to this day drilling companies rely on Hernis to keep them on station and earning money.
These are the qualities built into the systems supplied to the new RIV and Multi Function vessels.'
The HERNIS 400 control system is well proven and is used on a wide range of marine and land based applications operating at both ends of the temperature scale and in extremely difficult conditions. Both Trinity House and the Northern Lighthouse Board will benefit from experience gained under such conditions.
