The event, sponsored by BP Shipping and Cargill, will enable some £90,000 to be used by the Society to provide seafarers with support services around the world.

The Freight Investor Services’ ‘FIS-Five-O’ team set a fastest time of 62.46 seconds over the final 200m course to beat 26 other teams to the challenge championship. The teams also competed in a tug of war competition, while crews and spectators alike participated in activities such as laser clay shooting, target golf and human table football.

The Society’s director of fundraising and marketing Jan Webber said, ‘Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable day, and we were delighted to have raised so much money to help seafarers in need. Despite the changeable weather everyone was in good spirits and the teams became especially competitive. I would like to thank all those who took part in the event and hope that we can enjoy a similar fun day again next year.
