New Catamaran Charter Boat at Lowestoft.
01 Jul 2007
The boat was originally planned as a replacement for East Coast Charters’ proprietor Mick Latham’s existing vessel but with the amount of work currently available it was decided to add the newbuild ‘Topline’ to a fleet which also includes ‘Topline 11.’
The new vessel is fitted out to a high standard which will make charter work more comfortable. Powered by twin Iveco marine diesels, ‘Topline’ is fast when necessary and the twin hulls provide a stable working platform.
East Coast Charters has been operating for eight years and Mick Latham has been an inshore fisherman and angling and workboat charter skipper for over twenty years.
‘Topline’, like its stablemate, will be used as a safety vessel, for surveys, sea bed sampling, crew changes for bigger vessels and other activities. The original vessel, which is also a Blyth Workcat, is currently having some changes made to the bow structure in readiness for prospective work in the booming offshore wind farm construction industry.
Mick Latham now feels well equipped to undertake any commercial charter work off the East Coast of the UK, including round the clock charter with two skippers alternating shifts. He has just taken on an out of region contract of some four months duration which will see the newbuild at work on seabed surveying close to Lizard Point off Cornwall.
