CEDA Stakes Out Position on WFD
01 Mar 2007
The Central Dredging Association (CEDA) participated in the recent Seminar 'Navigation and the EU Water Framework Directive' which took place on 31 January in Brussels. CEDA provided input on a range of subjects relevant to the WFD and the dredging industry.
The seminar was organised by PIANC on behalf of the WFD Navigation Task Group, of which CEDA was a founding member.
At the seminar CEDA has made statements at each of the following workshops:
• The relationship between the WFD and the EU marine strategy.
• The role of sediment management in river basin management planning.
• The need for practical solutions to hydromorphological issues.
The three statements can be viewed on CEDA’s web site (www.dredging.org).
CEDA also provided the chairman and the rapporteur for the sediment workshop, Mr Neville Burt (HR Wallingford, UK) and Ms Nicola Clay (Port of London Authority, UK).
