The project is the first phase of a planned solution to coastal erosion that has led to the erosion of several hundreds of metres of coastline in the last 50 years.

The Xbloc was developed by Delta Marine Consultants as an innovative interlocking armour unit designed for long term protection of breakwaters and shorelines under extreme conditions.

The Xbloc, is a simple, robust and reliable breakwater armoured unit with considerable structural integrity as an individual element and has great hydraulic stability in an armoured layer. Casting and positioning the Xbloc unit is straightforward and is very cost effective.
