Blessey Marine Embraces Workboat Navigator

Louisiana USA based Blessey Marine Services, which operates an inland tank barge and towing vessel fleet in the United States, will deploy the Jeppesen Workboat Navigator information service across its fllet of 50 towboats. The new system from Jeppeson Marine was developed specifically for commercial vessels operating in coastal and inland waterways.

Predominantly a 'unit tow' company, Blessey Marine safely transports its customers' liquid products up and down the Mississippi River and all of its navigable tributaries and canals, servicing all the major petroleum and petro-chemical companies.

Jeppesen Workboat Navigator is an information service that provides mariners with a combination of detailed vector-based digital marine charts, location based data, such as Notices to Mariners, and input from onboard sensors, such as GPS, radar, AIS, heading sensors, and onboard cameras.

Other advanced features include weekly updates so charts remain current, River ETA to assist with planning arrival times, River AIS to predict passing locations and the ability to keep AIS information up to date with an easy to use interface. Comprehensive 24/7 service and support is also included.  'The initial reaction of the market to Workboat Navigator has been very favourable, said Jeppesen Marine senior project manager Ron Moody.  'Our growing list of clients is a great sign that we are bringing the right mix of features and benefits to tow and barge operators along the US inland waterway system.'
