But technology and practice have since moved on with significant advances in techniques and practice. Moreover, Hough adds, more advanced products are now available, with clients experiencing altogether newer and different requirements, particularly in areas such as data delivery and storage.

Changes in practice and a review of new products will form part of the new review which is being carried out by a group of digital video specialists from IMCA members in its Offshore Survey, Remote Systems and ROV and Diving Divisions. 

The revision will also include case studies showing how new techniques are being implemented, both offshore and at the point of delivery to clients. The revised document is expected to be ready for publication towards the end of next March.  Meanwhile, the current version remains available for members at a cost of £10 and £30 for non-members.
