30 Jul 2008
Norwegian marine equipment manufacturer Noreq AS has built and delivered 19 lifeboats to Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) for use on their semi-submersible crane vessels ‘Thialf’ and ‘Hermod’.
The €1m contract included delivery of seven lifeboats for one vessel, 12 for the other, and one MOB boat. The lifeboats are of two different sizes, 8m and 8.5m, with capacities for 53 and 54 passengers respectively. Both types are fire protected.
The lifeboats are certified by Bureau Veritas and manufactured according to Norwegian Maritime Directorate regulations.
Noreq also won an NOK 6m contract from Portugal’s Saipem Comercio Maritimo for the supply of lifeboats and davits for Saipem’s pipe laying barge ‘Castoro Sei’. The barge is being upgraded before it enters Norwegian waters.
Noreq received another order from Eidsvik Skipsbyggeri shipyard for delivery of an MOB boat and davit for a newbuild trawler for owners Rederi Knester AS of Norway.
