New BayDelta Tugs Chartered to Crowley

Among the large number of interesting new tug currently being delivered or under construction for owners in the United States of America are two azimuthing stern drive (ASD) tugs being built for BayDelta Maritime Inc. Heralded as two of the most powerful 30.48m (100 foot) harbour tugs on the US north west coast, it was announced that Crowley Maritime, based in Seattle USA has agreed to charter both tugs.
Washburn & Doughty Delivers ‘Eleanor F. Moran’

Another shiphandling tug, typical of the new generation of vessels being produced in the USA to support oil and LNG terminal operations is the ‘Eleanor F. Moran’, delivered earlier in the year to Moran Towing of New Canaan, Connecticut. Currently working in the port of Norfolk, Virginia, the tug was completed by Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc. of East Boothbay, Maine.

New Marpol regulations are on the way, but designers are holding back on final designs until the outcome of the ‘Bourbon Dolphin’ tragedy is clear.

Propulsion specialist Schottle GmbH & Co. KG has been reorganized, with a new corporate structure to meet the increasing demands of shipbuilding worldwide. With effect from 29 June 2007, Schottel’s headquarters in Spay/Rhine and Schottel Antriebstechnik GmbH in Wismar have been merged to form the new Schottel GmbH, with its registered office in Spay and branches in Wismar and Hamburg. Schottel Schiffsmaschinen GmbH, also based at Wismar, will continue to develop and manufacture reliable, high efficiency controllable pitch propeller systems as an independent company.
