IADC Dredging and Reclamation Seminar

The International Association of Dredging Contractors (IADC) will hold its 30th International Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation on 16-20 June this year at Delft in the Netherlands.
The seminar includes a trip on board a dredger to visit a dredging project.
The seminar includes a trip on board a dredger to visit a dredging project.

Aimed at decision makers and their advisors in governments, port and harbour authority managers, offshore companies and other organisations that execute dredging projects, the event, held in cooperation with UNESCO - IHE, reflects the IADC's commitment to education, encouraging young people to enter the field of dredging and to spread a better knowledge and understanding of dredging around the world.

The five day course will strive to provide understanding through lectures by experts in their fields as well as workshops. Subjects to be covered include the development of new ports and the maintenance of existing ports; project phasing, including identification, investigation, feasibility studies, design, construction, and maintenance; descriptions of the types of dredging equipment and boundary conditions for their use; environmentally sound dredging techniques; pre-dredging and soil investigations; designing and estimating from the contractor's point of view; the costing of projects and types of contracts.

A highlight of the seminar is a trip on a trailing suction hopper dredger or a cutter suction dredger to visit a dredging project. A visit to a dredging yard is also included.

The seminar costs €1,350, which includes all tuition, seminar proceedings and workshops as well as a special participants' dinner during the week but is exclusive of travel costs and accommodation.
