The latest UK coastal and port hydrography developments as well as the effects of the new Marine Bill due to become law by the end of this year are to be the subject of a one day conference on 12 June as part of this year's Seawork exhibition in Southampton.

Among key subjects will be the short and long term consequences of the EU directed Marine Bill for domestic coastal and port authorities, with Dornford Rugg of DEFRA and Stephen Hull of Associated British Ports leading discussions.

Other morning speaker topics include UKHO Processes for Updating Charts, Aerial Lidar Surveys for Coastal Applications and from Annie Middleton, Environment Officer of Cardiff Harbour Authority, Clearing Harbours of Surface & Seabed Debris.

Afternoon proceedings open with John Pinder of the Port of London discussing hydrography and safety management within the Port Marine Safety Code, followed by Jim Chubb of BMT Marine & Offshore Surveys reviewing clean up processes for wrecks and salvage work around coastlines.

The event is jointly sponsored by The Hydrographic Society UK, The Society for Underwater Technology and the UK Harbour Masters Association, all of whose members will be entitled to a discounted registration fee of £165, covering lunch, coffee breaks and a workbook.
