New Towage Company Makes Its Mark

The new company Sedna Towage & Offshore LDA based in Funchal, Madeira is growing rapidly thanks to the efforts of their Italian attorney Mr Rino Barretta, managing director of An.do.fe Shipping Management Srl. Within just a few months a new fleet has been created, starting with the 55 tons bollard pull anchor-handling tug Scapino.

Fairmount’s Armada Spanning the Globe

With their fleet of Fairmount class tugs at full strength for some time, the order book of Rotterdam based Fairmount Marine BV is bulging. All five of the company's long distance anchor handling salvage tugs are equipped with four engines, producing a total of 16,320bhp for a bollard pull of 200 tons.

Successful Salvage from French Coast

Abeilles International has carried out a successful assistance operation which started on 10 March after the freighter Artemis was driven aground on the beach of Sables d'Olonne in Southern Brittany by winds of 130km per hour.

Gift Presentation Marks LOF Century

Arnold Witte, president of the International Salvage Union presented Lord Peter Levene, chairman of Lloyd’s with a gift from the salvage industry to mark the centenary of Lloyd’s Form, the world’s most frequently used form of marine salvage agreement.
