Gift Presentation Marks LOF Century

Arnold Witte, president of the International Salvage Union presented Lord Peter Levene, chairman of Lloyd’s with a gift from the salvage industry to mark the centenary of Lloyd’s Form, the world’s most frequently used form of marine salvage agreement.

The presentation was made on 31 March 31 at Lloyd’s of London. The gift is a ship’s wheel clock-barometer of around 1890. It carries an inscription recording the centenary of Lloyd’s Form, introduced in 1908.
The ship’s wheel clock-barometer has double gilt brass and silvered twelve spoked ship’s wheels, set on a revolving capstan, with a finely engraved compass with jewelled bearing mounted on the top.
