    Germany’s Meidericher Schiffswerft (MSW) in Duisburg, still going strong after 110 years in the business, has completed the latest in a series of complex small vessel re-engine projects.

    Dutch dredging contractor Van Oord chose SPS Overlay to provide side shell protection for its trailing suction hopper dredger Volvox Iberia. The work was carried out in Ajman at a yard which is jointly owned by Keppel, an SPS Overlay licensee.

    UMC International recently took up the challenge to create a dry working environment around the giant support feet (spudcans) of a jack-up oil rig so that repairs could be undertaken on the top surfaces of each foot. 

  • Mobile Dry Dock Called to South Korea

    While still under warranty, a three-month old, 260m long container ship developed a worrying oil leak from its stern tube seal. Antwerp based underwater repair specialist Hydrex was called all the way to Pusan, South Korea, flying in all the equipment needed for the job, including a seal specialist engineer from Aegir-Marine and the Hydrex mobile drydock.
