Multibeam system for Dredging International
01 Aug 2008
Dredging and land reclamation specialists Dredging International of Antwerp, recently retained to deepen and widen the Panama Canal, have commissioned a portable ES3-M10 integrated multibeam echosounder and motion sensor from Odom Hydrographic Systems Inc of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in the USA.
Components for Odom Hydrographic Systems' ES3-M10 multibeam echosounder, incorporating a Teledyne TSS motion sensor.
The purchase, supervised by Odom's representatives in Belgium, Asicon BV, follows extensive field trials of the ES3-M10 assembly along the River Scheldt prior to later testing aboard Dredging International's own survey launch.
The complete system incorporates a Teledyne TSS DMS motion sensor and is complemented by a new ruggedised shallow water version introduced earlier this year. Odom says the latter is particularly affordable, as it is specifically designed for those who think multibeam technology is either beyond their economic means or is simply too complicated to use.
