Under the first contract, the Pennsylvania based engine builder will supply Skamek Power of Aalesund in Norway with V250 diesel engines to power a new offshore vessel to be constructed for owner North Sea Shipping of Bakkasund, Norway.

The offshore construction vessel, to be built at Barreras’ shipyard in Vigo, Spain, will employ six GE 16 cylinder V250 diesel generator sets, to be rated at 3.5MW each. The diesels will comply with MARPOL and DNV Clean Design certification regulations.

Skamek Power will deliver the six gensets to North Sea Shipping in April 2009, with the vessels to enter service in 2010. Skamek Power is part of GE’s worldwide service network.
