Gecko go ballistic at Seawork
07 Aug 2008
The cap is designed to give the user a higher level of protection as and when he needs it by placing it on top of an existing GMSH (Gecko Marine Safety Helmet) without the need to carry additional weight at all times. It is expected to offer NIJ level 2 specification when it is released.
More news from Gecko is that they are also waiting on a new Bluetooth system which will fit within their range helmets. The device is still being finalised and is expected to have a range up to 1km for data and 500m for voice. The headsets are waterproof to IP67 and have noise cancelling with individual volume control. They will be available as headset in helmet or as a stand alone ear defender type and will come with high capacity rechargeable batteries and a charger supplied.
The Bluetooth system is being produced and designed by Braeglen for Gecko Head Gear Ltd.
Gecko was established in 1993 and specialises in hand made helmets designed for niche sport markets and marine safety organisations such as the UK's RNLI as well as the UK Ministry of Defence and the Australian Navy.
