The delivery of the high speed passenger ferry 'Superstar' from Fincantieri to owners Tallink has enabled classification society Bureau Veritas to reach 8,000 ships in its classed fleet, which now totals over 60m gt. Recent growth has been exceptional, as BV's figures stood at 41m gt and 6,650 ships as recently as 2004. Continuing strong fleet growth is reflected in the financial results, with the BV group reporting a 12% rise in turnover last year and adjusted net profit up by 19%.
