RIB builder debuts range at Seawork

Kent UK based V RIBS Ltd will launch a new range of offshore commercial RIBs at the Seawork International 2008. The newly designed boats, ranging in length from 9m to 15m and capable of speeds above 50 knots, are on display for the first time at the international show.
The 2007 model is seen with outboard power. The 2008 model V RIB at Seawork will be powered by a 320 hp Cummins marine diesel.

The boats are aimed at the commercial maritime market and their new design incorporates a range of features making them unique in the UK.

With a range of over 500 miles and able to carry up to 20 people, the RIBs incorporate shock mitigation seating so they can travel at speed without risk of injury to passengers or crew. The Swedish designed Ullman seats incorporate hydraulic fittings which enables them to absorb the full impact of waves.

The family run company, based in Ramsgate, is producing two models. They are the V-RIB Offshore, which ranges between 9m and 12m in length, and the V-RIB Ocean, which extends from 12m up to 15m.

All the vessels are modified to the clients’ exact needs, combining speed with range, and are seen as ideal safety and rescue boats. Other potential users include police and customs services requiring a high speed patrol craft, oil rig and wind farm services companies requiring fast access to offshore installations, river and harbour authorities, and diving services providers or clubs.

Although primarily aimed at the commercial market, the boats have safety approval for leisure use and carry a Category B Rating under the EU Recreational Craft Directive.

A V RIBS spokesperson said, 'The design is safe, fast and very stable, with a whole variety of possible uses. A unique design feature is the shock absorbing seating, incorporated because tighter health and safety regulations mean companies increasingly have a duty of care to both crew and passengers.

'We emphasise the flexibility with every boat customized for the customers’ exact needs. We are delighted with the interest in our boats so far and look forward to showing off this RIB at Seawork.'

The 12m V RIB available for demonstration at Seawork will be powered by a 320 hp Cummins marine diesel. It will have 1,000 litre fule cpacity and a cuddy cabin. The 15m V RIB can have up to 4,000 litre capacity.
