Spreader Advancing in Marine Markets
01 Apr 2008
This order follows the successful use of two Modulift sets onboard CEC Century and is the third recent dispatch to individual shipping companies over the past few months.
The Modulift modular spreader system is becoming popular within the marine and port heavy lifting industries as more companies utilise and benefit from its flexible, cost effective nature. A single Modulift set can be used for lifting loads of different sizes and weight, allowing the same spreader to be used for various loads within projects, providing a more advanced and efficient solution than standard, fixed length spreaders.
Clipper Elite Carriers' latest order is for a Modulift 70H set, part of the company's heavy range. This Modulift set has a maximum span capacity of up to 12m in 500mm increments and a maximum load capacity of up to 100 tons at 6m. The CEC order is one of three recent shipping dispatches.
Coli Shipping also placed its fourth Modulift order within a year for two sets of Modulift 70s for lifting onboard MV Bosphorus. Oldendoff Express Lines ordered Modulift 100H for use aboard their fleet. The Modulift range comprises 16 systems, which provide lifting capacity for weights between 2 tons and 3,000 tons at lengths from 200mm to 53m.
The system is used for the smallest maintenance work to the largest lifting jobs in many industry sectors. Modulift currently has sales and rental customers in the construction, maritime, offshore, oil & gas, industrial and aerospace industries. All utilise the modular system to enable the lifting of various loads, without the need to buy or rent new spreader beams for every different job.
