  • DEME to participate in Qatar-Bahrain Causeway

    DEME in Belgium has announced that the Qatar based joint venture company MEDCO, a partnership between Qatari company UDC, the Qatari Government and DEME Group company Dredging International, is to be part of a consortium with Vinci Construction Grands Projets, Hochtief and CCC that has signed a design and build contract for the construction of the new causeway between Qatar and Bahrain. 

  • First pile for new quay at IHC Krimpen Shipyard

    The councillor for spatial planning at Krimpen aan den IJssel in the Netherlands drove the first pile last month for the new completion quay at IHC Krimpen Shipyard. The ceremony launched a major construction project at the yard. 

  • First ‘Eco Xbloc’ produced

    Delta Marine Consultants (DMC), the company behind the Xbloc armoured unit used in shore defence projects, is developing a new environmentally friendly version of the Xbloc, which it has dubbed the ‘Eco Xbloc.’ 

  • Western Scheldt deepening work underway

    The Port of Antwerp in Belgium says work on deepening the Western Scheldt, which started late last year, is now well underway. The deepening is necessary to guarantee navigability and to keep up with developments in ship construction. 

  • Large number of contracts for Jan de Nul

    Belgian dredging contractor Jan de Nul was awarded a number of contracts last month, including one to execute dredging and deepening works for the Barra do Riacho terminal at Aracruz in Brazil, a terminal owned by Portocel and Petrobras. 

  • Van Oord wins maintenance dredging contracts

    The Directorate General for Public Works and Water Management has awarded Van Oord Nederland a contract to carry out maintenance dredging in Witte Tonnen Vlije and Brabantsche Vaarwater (parts of the Oosterschelde estuary) and the Zuid-Beveland Canal. 

  • Boskalis to extend Port of Felixstowe in UK

    Dutch dredging contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster has been appointed to extend the harbour at Port of Felixstowe in the UK. 

  • Grontmij Carl Bro renovates ferry route

    Working in collaboration with shipping company Erria, Grontmij Carl Bro has been awarded a contract for the renovation of a ferry route on the world’s largest artificiallycreated lake, Lake Volta in Ghana.
