ChartCo has already found success with their information distribution services, they started their Broadcast service in 1998, using the Inmarsat point to multi-point resource, and have more recently launched a dial-up or broadband service.

The data will be held by the ship in a fast and accurate database allowing extensive keyword searching. The service includes regulations, acts, codes of practice, and notices, designed to provide the relevant documentation to meet the 1998 carriage of nautical publications regulations, all linked to digital versions of a company's Safety Management Manuals and supported by regular updates direct from ChartCo. Fixed weekly subscription charges include rental of the decoder, satellite communications costs and information supply.

This development means an exclusive relationship between ChartCo and Regs4Ships. ChartCo already has over 3,300 vessels benefiting from the provision of paper and electronic chart updates, weather data, newspapers and updates to British Admiralty electronic products. They are aiming to gradually move all their data distribution services toward online solutions.
