Pumps Turn Up Trumps at Seawork

The two companies are closely related, as Avon Boating's business development manager Peter Norman is also KPM Marine's sales director. Avon Boating will serve as distributor for the new Endurance Pumps and will be spotlighting them in Seawork's Innovations Showcase.
Avon Boating claims to new Endurance Pumps will represent 'a quantum leap forward in pump technology', designed as they were to a military specification to cope with the worst possible conditions of abuse. The design approach bodes well for commercial users, who will be offered five year warranties on the pumps and two years on the impellers.
Specifically, the pumps have been designed to cope with 'run dry' and 'sand & silt' conditions, leaving them well equipped to survive the rigours of tidal waters and nearshore environments. The 'run dry' capability means these pumps can operate for 20 minutes at a time without water. Many run dry situations are caused by debris blocking the inlet pipe, which does not show up until the engine alarm sounds. By this time, many pumps will have destroyed their impeller. With the Endurance Pumps, water flow is restored as soon as the blockage has been cleared, allowing the boat to continue on its way.
Applications of interest to Seawork visitors include engine cooling; bilge pumping, fire pumping, ballast transfer and tankage. Avon Boating will also supply a portable diesel operated pump ideal for rescue situations as it can be operated in enclosed environments.
Avon Boating believes that seeing a demonstration is the best way to understand the design advantages of Endurance Pumps and is thus planning to run them for visitors two or three times a day throughout Seawork 2008.
