Fugro orders new vessel

Dutch survey conglomerate Fugro has commissioned Fr. Fassmer of Berne-Motzen near Bremen in north Germany to design and construct a new 65m geophysical survey vessel, Fugro Searcher.

Accomodating up to 43 personnel in single and double en suite cabins, it will be able to carry out simultaneous analogue/digital survey and AUV operations in addition to geophysical and other studies.

Survey equipment already specified includes Kongsberg Maritime EA600 single-beam and EM 302 and 3002 multibeam sounders together with a HiPAP USBL system, an Edgetech dual frequency 4200 digital sidescan sonar and chirp sub-bottom profiler, and a Hydroscience SeeMux digital assembly.

Fugro Searcher is destined to be operated by Fugro Survey of Aberdeen. Fassmer, its constructors, are currently also engaged in building new multi-purpose and sounding vessels for delivery late next year to the Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven Water & Shipping Offices.
