Reson extends multibeam range

Reson has extended its SeaBat series of multibeam sounders with the introduction of a small, lightweight model for mounting on underwater vehicles or boats of opportunity, the SeaBat 7101.

The Danish company says it is ideal for applications such as subsea intervention and monitoring, guidance and navigation, site and route surveys, and rig re-entries.

Operating at 240 kHz, the system measures discrete depths down to 500m over a swathe width of 150°. Dense sounding coverage is realised via a combination of 240 equidistant beams and a range dependent ping rate of up to 40 kHz.

Available from this summer onwards, SeaBat 7101 can be acquired as a complete multibeam system or as an upgrade to existing 8101 models first introduced 12 years ago.
