After ten years in use, the manoeuvring systems for access ramps on Stena Line’s HSS Stena Carisma in Gothenburg and Fredrikshamn needed to be replaced.

All of the bearing surfaces, which work with steel to steel contact, have reached the end of their useful lives. TTS Port Equipment modified the design of the manoeuvring systems in order to reduce wear on the bearing surfaces, and the project also included the delivery, installation and testing of the hardware, as well as ensuring approval from Lloyd’s Register of Shipping.

The upgrade project will extend the lifetime of the linkspans by at least 10 years.
