08 May 2008
The multi-role craft will provide operators with cost effective support for wind farm maintenance, fish farming, harbour duties and others. The design will suit a multitude of workboat operations that demand generous accommodation and versatility in deck area.
The Aqua Bell Trojan 33 is 33ft (10.06m) LOA, with a beam of 3.2m and draft of 1.01m. A single chine hull form of heavy duty glass fibre delivers excellent sea keeping and handling capabilities, providing operators with the ability to handle heavy weather and rough sea conditions, a stable work platform with generous stowage hold (2.30 m³) and heavy load carrying capabilities. The spacious deck provides a substantial work area for inshore and coastal support work. The new design is built to comply with The Small Commercial Vessel Code of Practice, MCA category 2, up to 60 miles from a safe haven and can carry up to 12 people.
Maintenance and running costs have been fundamental in developing the Aqua Bell Trojan 33, with the addition of a one piece moulded gunwale, increasing freeboard and deck height. The short wheelhouse maximises the rear working deck area with substantial deck hardware to complement the rugged outside working environment.
The keel has been designed to allow shallow water operations, providing protection to the stern gear in the event of grounding. Bilge keels can be fitted to allow drying out if required, making it ideal for drying harbours during low tide.
The vessel is powered by a single Nanni Marine 6.4L marine diesel engine delivering 320 hp at 3,600 rpm. It is fitted below decks with a conventional shaft drive to a cast bronze 'Y' bracket with a stainless steel skeg for operating in shallow waters. This arrangement provides 22 knots and delivers 3,122lbs of thrust, which translates to a bollard pull of 1,948kg.
Deck beams and all framing is hardwood and all plywood is marine grade to BS1088. Moulded interior components are used where possible to provide easy clean surfaces and reduced maintenance costs. The design provides as standard a forward 'V' berth arrangement with a galley and separate toilet facility.
Electronic and navigational equipment to the owner's requirements can be fitted into the large moulded dash unit, offering flush mounting and easy operator use from the helm position.
