Titanic implications of marine winch certification
01 Oct 2008
Germany's Rotzler GmbH & Co has received a quality seal from Germanischer Lloyd certifying their Titan winch for maritime operations. The Titan range is suitable for lifting and lowering loads at controlled speeds and is particularly suitable for use with loading cranes, construction machinery and drilling equipment as well as in the fishing industry.
In response to customer requests for a GL certificate to be awarded for Titan winches, Rotzler has had this product group certified for integration aboard ship. The certificate covers Titan TH 1, TH 2, TH 3, TH 4, TH 5 and also TC 1, TC 2, TC 3 and TC 5 winches.
The GL certificate guarantees that Titan hoisting winches comply with the requirements set by Germanischer Lloyd and can safely be used for maritime operations.
Rotzler's Bettina Stillich said, 'Rotzler have chosen Germanischer Lloyd to type approve and certify its Titan hoisting winch range. The Germanischer Lloyd type approval certification significantly increases the worldwide potential application and customer base and further underlines Titan's already proven marine performance.
'Shipbuilders and our marine OEM customers are assured that the certified Rotzler Titan winches meet the requirements of Germanscher Lloyd and can be safely used for maritime operations.
Vessels fitted with the Rotzler Titan winch include those operated by the Canadian Coast Guard.
