Kongsberg Maritime buys Geoacoustics

Kongsberg Maritime is to purchase GeoAcoustics, the Great Yarmouth UK based sonar equipment specialists for both civil and defence applications, for approximately £4.3m.
It follows the Norwegian company's earlier acquisition of the AUV manufacturer Hydroid Inc in an $80m deal which has now been approved by the US Government.
Kongsberg says that systems produced by GeoAcoustics, which has subsidiaries in Mumbai and Singapore and customers in over 60 countries, will significantly enhance its own ranges of positioning and survey products currently being manufactured in Norway, Canada and Scotland.
