Shipyard dredges contaminated sediment

A&P Tyne in the UK has commenced operations to remove approximately 30,000m³ of silt that is contaminated with TBT from its quays and waterfront.

The significant investment involved (circa £2.15m) will not only provide an environmentally cleaner work site but also allow the entrance to the dock for vessels with a maximum draft of 10m.

Dave Skentelbery, MD of A&P North East Businesses said, 'The project will reinforce the capability of the 259m x 44m dock and demonstrate A&Ps commitment to a 'green' marine environment. Environmental legislation is going to play a greater part in the management of business in the future and we believe in leading the way.'
