Diyar Al Muharraq reclamation approaching completion
01 Oct 2008
The management team for Bahrain's new city, located off the northern shores of Muharraq, has announced that it has completed 70% of the reclamation work required for the development's initial 6 sq/km and has done so ahead of schedule.
Aaref Hejres, CEO of Diyar Al Muharraq said, 'This recent achievement brings us ever closer to our dream of building a city of the future in the present. The sheer scale of Diyar Al Muharraq, 12 sq/km in all, means that every aspect requires extremely detailed planning and execution. Our strategy is always to follow international best practice, so much so that we are confident of keeping up the pace of reclamation, and indeed, all aspects of the project.'
The development will eventually house over 100,000 people in some 30,000 dwellings. These will be gradually released, with the first facilities ready for use in 2010.
