A police investigation into the fire which caused £10m damage to the iconic tea clipper 'Cutty Sark' in May 2007 has determined the cause to be an industrial vacuum cleaner which was left switched on over a weekend. Fire broke out at the Greenwich, London site in the early hours of Monday morning, 21 May, raising the cost of ongoing restoration works to £35m.
