  Chesterfield UK based hull corrosion protection systems manufacturer Cathelco is supplying an ICCP hull corrosion protection system for a new type of jack-up vessel which can bring fully commissioned topsides to offshore energy sites, handling everything from loading to positioning. 20 May 2010

  Following the successful use of Swansea Dry Docks for the refit and refurbishment of Saga Pearl II, now successfully cruising, and work on MV Julia, which is now plying the Fastnet Ferry Cork-Swansea overnight route, and emergency repair work on the 65m hopper dredger Heron, Harris Pye Group (HPG) has signed a longer lease on Swansea’s Duke of Edinburgh and Prince of Wales dry docks, a move that is attracting interest from a number of shipping lines. 17 May 2010

  Goodchild Marine Services Ltd of Norfolk, England has won a £1.7m contract with Estuary Services Ltd to build two ORC 171.P 17m pilot launches to work in the River Thames estuary and offshore area. 17 May 2010

• New NYC fireboat honours 9/11 heroes

  In late April, 2010, the first RAnger 4200 Class fireboat Three Forty-Three completed trials and was delivered to its proud owners, the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) for the voyage home to New York City. 17 May 2010

• Henshaw floats Italian Coast Guard boats

  The Somerset UK based manufacturer of inflatable and foam filled tubes for RIBs, Henshaw Inflatables, has extended a customer base which already includes the UK’s RNLI and MOD by working with the Dutch and Italians to produce a set of foam and air filled tubes suitable for an 18m RIB to be used by the Italian Coast Guard. 17 May 2010

  The Swedish company Antiphon AB has introduced a totally new product for structure borne sound damping. Antiphon MPM (metal-polymer-metal) foiled is a sheet metal laminate with a thin foil on one side. 13 May 2010
