Germany stages Hydro 2010 – by David Goodfellow

A global audience of well over 300 delegates is expected at Hydro 2010, the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies’ 17th biennial European hydrographic conference at Warnemünde.
Held on the Baltic coast from 2-5 November, the four day event is hosted and organised by Federation member, The German Hydrographic Society (Deutsche Hydrographische Gesellschaft) and includes an exhibition of equipment and services featuring 43 companies and organisations.
Main conference proceedings comprise 55 English language presentations spread over 15 sessions. Individual topics range from Hydrographic Surveys, Geophysics, Survey Platforms and Positioning and Coastal Mapping to Electronic Charting, Tides and Currents, Data Management, Marine Renewables, Education and Standards. In general, they are expected to provide an ideal forum for reviews of hydrography not only in and around the Baltic but also at a much wider global level.
The event also features around 15 individual workshops and seminars and additionally includes visits by two survey vessels operated by the Federal German Maritime & Hydrographic Agency (BSH), Baltic and Deneb. Delegate fee rates covering an icebreaker reception, proceedings, coffee breaks, lunches and a dinner, are €400 for Federation members and €500 for non-members. Separate day rates are also available, as are special reduced rates for students.
