New Norwegian and UK hydrographers – by David Goodfellow
Evert Flier has been appointed director of the Norwegian Hydrographic Service in Stavanger, which is also responsible for administration of the international non-profit electronic nautical chart centre, Primar Stavanger.
Previously associated for a number of years with the Dutch Navy and its training academy, he latterly served as head of internal training at the NATO Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger.
In the UK, Rear-Admiral Nick Lambert is now National Hydrographer and Deputy Chief Executive (Hydrography) of the Taunton based Hydrographic Office. A former commander of the Royal Navy’s Task Force 158 in the North Arabian Gulf and Deputy Flag Officer Sea Training, he succeeds Rear Admiral Ian Moncrieff as Hydrographer.
