Online ECDIS training

Ahead of new IMO ECDIS requirements next year, Hamburg based Safebridge says it will shortly introduce the first release of its new online courseware for type-specific training.
It combines an e-learning component with OEM software and electronic charts with the learning process controlled by dedicated software to provide an interactive simulator identical to an actual ECDIS brand being studied.
The German company has already established cooperative agreements for development of type specific training packages based around ECDIS products from Imtech, JRC, Raytheon Anschutz, Sperry Marine and Transas and anticipates introduction of similar programs for other suppliers in 2012.
