New exhibitor glows in the dark at Seawork
Kayospruce’s Glowfast labels attracted particular interest at Seawork this year.
UK safety specialist Kayospruce launched its new commercial luminous safety tread and new glowfast safety labels as a first time exhibitor at Seawork in June.
‘Our first Seawork went extremely well for us this year, said Kayospruce managing director Ian Dawson. ‘We saw a number of clients from the marine leisure area, as well as meeting a number of new buyers and clients interested in our products from the commercial and workboat sector. Glowfast labels attracted particular interest, especially with the many different commercial applications and the easy retrieval of safety equipment at night, with minimal top up of natural or artificial light.’
Kayospruce was also delighted with the considerable interest in their new safety tread and its many applications. Enquiries came from marina operators for ‘glow in the dark’ signage, as well as from port authorities and safety equipment buyers from other market sectors to mark walkways and ensure safety in the dark throughout the year.
Other interest and orders came from the wide range of specialist fabrics which Kayospruce supplies, including anything from specialist vinyls to side and headlinings as well as functional yet chic and attractive fabrics for VIP launch interiors.
The Glowfast safety labels are designed to stand up to a harsh marine environment and aid crew to find safety devices or provide life saving reminders at night without any need for artificial lighting. With just 10 minutes of exposure to either daylight or torchlight, the labels will glow for up to 20 hours, vastly improving the chances of finding the right piece of safety equipment without losing crucial time in an emergency. Labels for equipment include first aid kit, lifejackets, flares, EPIRB and fire extinguisher, as well as signage such as ‘Remember to Turn Off Gas at Bottle’. The labels come in a variety of sizes and are designed to be easily applied to a clean and dry surface from the self adhesive backing.
The tread is designed to glow in the dark as guidelines for walkways, ensuring safe passage at night, even on an unlit pontoon or deck. It conforms to ISO 15370 for low location emergency lighting and charges with just 8 hours of daylight, to achieve a 20+ hour glow. Other applications for the luminous material include marking of river posts and lettering for dock reference or signage for fuel berths. In addition, the strips of luminous tread can be used to mark the inside of a berth or dock to make the pontoon more visible at night.
