Bullet cameras seal security at Bradwell
Bradwell Marina now has a 24 hour security system which monitors, records and alerts both the marina and the boat owners of problems.
Bradwell Marina is one of the largest boating sites in Essex UK, holding millions of pounds worth of boating equipment.
Marina owner, Arthur Thurtle, had already tried several CCTV systems, but none of them met his requirements. He needed a secure, robust, reliable security solution with crystal clear images at day and night, that could protect his growing marina complex, as well as giving boat owners the peace of mind of seeing their property from remote locations.
Y-cam compatible partner, Jabbakam, a unique online system for the viewing and sharing of IP cameras, rose to the challenge of meeting Bradwell’s demanding requirements of clear images around the clock, and the ability for owners to remotely monitor their own boats and berths, all managed at an affordable cost.
The answer was having 11 Y-cam Bullet cameras installed by Active Surveillance, two on each pontoon lamppost, facing different directions, surveying all aspects of each pontoon as well as covering all entrances and exits of the Marina.
Y-cam and Jabbakam have transformed Bradwell Marina’s security. They now have a 24 hour security system which monitors, records and alerts both the marina and the boat owners of problems. The system provides the marina staff with instant access to footage which they can save, send, or provide to the Police if the situation arises.
Bradwell Marina can now provide customers with exceptional security, reassurance that their possessions are safe and the online and sharing element of the Jabbakam service makes a unique offering for the marina in a competitive market place.
The Jabbakam system allows marina members access to their own dedicated pontoon camera, as well as the option to purchase their own private boat cameras, which they can manage and access using the same online system.
By utilising Y-cam and Jabbakam, Bradwell Marina saved over £25,000 in surveillance and monitoring costs. Active Surveillance provided 11 cameras, installation and easy management of the camera network at a fraction of the price of conventional CCTV. The overall cost to the marina was £15,000.
The cameras are used primarily for security around the marina, keeping an eye on boats and berths in addition to daily dock checks. Mr Thurtle said, “If there is anything untoward happening we always see it on the camera, it helps us greatly”.
The cameras are so effective that they even caught a rare natural occurrence. “We were really pleased that it even picked up a seal, which happens really infrequently. It popped its head up and was caught by one of the cameras. They are just that good”, concluded Mr Thurtle.
The cameras have also been used to monitor the entrance of the Marina, with the two way audio function of the Bulllet being particularly useful.
