Spanish Sole finds a UK market
Engines Plus Ltd was showing the UK line-up of marine propulsion engines and gensets at Seawork 2010.
Barcelona based engine manufacturer Sole SA is well recognised in Europe for a range of small, mostly leisure orientated marine diesels but had no presence in the UK before launching a venture with Gloucester based Engines Plus Ltd at Seawork 2010.
The new products included larger commercial marine engines up to 205 bhp and a full range of gensets from 6 kva up to 105 kva. The propulsion engine range includes two larger sizes, the SDZ-165 and the SDZ-205, both based on Deutz Diesel engines and marinized by Sole diesel in Spain.
The SDZ-165 is a four cylinder turbocharged diesel rated 166 bhp at 2,300 rpm and the SDZ-205 is a six cylinder turbocharged diesel rted 197 bhp at 2,300 rpm. Both engines are suited to commercial applications and can be equipped with accessories such as gearbox with trolling valve, additional pulleys to drive bilge pumps, twin panels, and others.
Sole Diesel gensets are either single or three phase, with smaller sets running at either 1,500 rpm or 3,000 rpm up to 25 kva, above which gensets run only at 1,500 rpm.
Hedley Beavis of Engines Plus Ltd said, ‘The addition of new products makes us stronger within this market place to offer a complete package to our customers. We believe the quality of the Sole Diesel product will ensure we take some market share.’
