Safely successful Seawork for Cosalt
The Cosalt MOB Recovery System is a flexible, ladder style device, which enables casualties, conscious or unconscious, to be retrieved from the water quickly in a horizontal position.
Seawork International 2010 proved to be a busy and successful show for specialist marine safety company Cosalt. Visitors to the company's stand were particularly interested in the new Cosalt MOB Recovery System, the Premier 2010 lifejacket and the new Crewfit 190N lifejacket.
The Cosalt MOB Recovery System is a flexible, ladder-style device, which enables casualties, conscious or unconscious, to be retrieved from the water quickly in a horizontal position. This mode of recovery reduces the threat of heart and blood circulation problems in a person whose temperature is reduced by exposure. It is one of several items of specialist marine safety equipment in Cosalt's Personnel Recovery Devices (CPRD) range, which also includes Perrybuoy lifebuoys, throwing lines and recovery slings.
The product is now being put to good use by many different organisations including rescue operators, oil companies, tug owners, dive operators, navies, coastguards as well as cruise and ferry ships. Its modular design means it can be adapted to suit all types of vessel, whether for MOB retrieval from a standby vessel, a fast rescue craft, an enclosed lifeboat or from a floating stretcher.
There was also continued interest in Cosalt's Premier 2010 lifejacket. This was one of the first inherently buoyant lifejackets in the world to be approved to the more stringent safety at sea Maritime Safety Committee regulations (MSC20(80)) that came into force on 1st July 2010. The company recently won an order to supply the lifejacket to P&O Ferries to equip their new super ferries, Spirit of Britain and Spirit of France.
The increasingly popular Crewfit 190N, which raises the bar on lifejacket design, drew a great deal of attention. Packed with cutting edge design features, it offers exceptional performance in the most demanding environments. Compact, lightweight and extremely comfortable to wear, it has been designed to outperform both the existing legislation and the newly introduced standard BSEN ISO 12402. It has a special patented inflation chamber designed to support the user in complete safety, even when wearing heavy waterproof clothing.
Commenting on the show, Cosalt's national marine sales manager Richard Robinson said, ‘Seawork 2010 was an excellent show for Cosalt and attracted a good cross section of companies from the industry. It was a good chance to meet up with a number of existing customers and make contact with a few new ones. Visitors to our stand were keen to find out more about our wide product portfolio. In particular, there were a large number of enquiries about our MOB Recovery System, the Premier 2010 lifejacket and Crewfit 190N. We are already looking forward to Seawork 2011.’
