Norwegian boat builder Promek AS has built and delivered more than 110 tailor made aluminium fish farming, environmental, harbour, fire and rescue workboats since 1992.

The Prowork workboats can be supplied as catamarans or single hulled workboats. The greater stability provided by the hull forms enable them to work in the most severe weather conditions, combined with high speed performance and shallow draught capability.

The ProWork workboat Lister , in service with Farsund Municipality, is being used for utility service work within the archipelago in Southern Norway. This aluminium monohull craft measures 10.6m LOA, with a beam of 3.3m and a 6.5 ton lightship displacement. It is powered by a single Iveco N67 560 diesel engine producing 500 hp (368 kW) at 3,000 rpm connected to an UltraJet 305HT (High Thrust) waterjet. This package produces a speed of 28 knots at 80% MCR. A fuel capacity of 500 litres is good for a range of 250 nautical miles.

The UJ305HT is a derivative of the UltraJet 305, with the same installation envelope but with the performance capability of a larger size jet. Surprisingly, it is available at the price of a smaller jet.

This craft can carry a 1,500 kg load and still maintain stability. The hydraulic crane and capstan are arranged so that deck space can be fully exploited.

Despite a general slowdown of activity within the commercial marine market which Promek addresses, the company has maintained a strong market position. Over a period when many other companies have struggled, Promek has recently invested in the latest pulse welding equipment and has its own computer controlled plasma cutting machine.

Seawork exhibitor Ultra Dynamics Ltd will have a range UltraJets on display at Seawork 2011.
