Chameleon changes roles at Seawork 2010
The Chameleon CC10m can perform a wide variety of workboat roles but will also be popular as a leisure craft.
The Chameleon CC10m, a fully enclosed RIB under development since 2005, was launched in time to appear on the floating pontoon at Seawork 2010.
The innovative and stylish craft from Dorset UK based Chameleon Craft LLP had already won the Seawork 2009 Spirit of Innovation Award for best in the Vessel Design and Construction category and now promises to bring a new dimension to the small workboat and leisure sectors by providing a much more stable, comfortable and enclosed platform compared to traditional RIBs.
The CC10m is available in three versions; Van, MPV and Open Sided. The fully customizable load space means CC10m can be highly effective in many roles from patrol boat to parcel delivery, service and support craft to VIP hosting, and technical and scientific research vessel to serving as a marine limousine. The enclosed craft provides a higher level of comfort and protection than has hitherto been the case with 10m or smaller RIBs. Crews can remain fresher and more effective for much longer and passengers can be afforded more comfort and style than what they had come to expect from open RIBs.
Able to carry up to 12 people plus three crew or loads of 1.2 tons, the full head height, full length enclosed generous load space provides all personnel, loads and equipment with full protection from the elements. There is also further under deck and wet locker storage space for additional gear while the cabin has a full external walk round deck.
CC10m has been designed to make a bold statement in terms of image and to lend itself to company, team and sponsor branding. Chameleon has installed systems that have remained simple and cost effective to operate, the aim being to help provide organisations with a reliable, all round advantage. Given that it is highly customisable, CC10m in a multi-service environment has the ability to meet many roles from one common, easy to support platform. As well as performing a variety of workboat duties, CC10m is also aimed at bringing a new, stylish dimension to the leisure sector and large super yacht tenders.
Based at Portland Marina, the Skandia RYA Team GBR Sailing team will have use of the CC10m for team support, providing them with a further competitive edge in their quest for 2012 Olympic Gold.
