An opportunity currently exists to join Briggs, an established and expanding company specialising in the supply of Marine and Environmental services. Based in the Peterborough area office, the role will require frequent travel within the UK including occasional attendance at the Head Office in Burntisland, Fife.

The Marine Contract Manager will be responsible for all aspects of a long-term contract managing a fleet of five coastal survey vessels. The successful candidate will ensure high operational standards and customer satisfaction at all times.

Principal Responsibilities Include;

  • Ensuring the safe, effective and profitable delivery of the service
  • Line Management of vessel crews and administrative staff
  • Implementing operational processes and procedures
  • Recruitment and development of personnel
  • Budget management in accordance with operational and technical requirements
  • Business development of third party opportunities
  • Managing specialist sub-contractors
  • Preparation of operational and customer defined reports
  • Administering commercial charters

Your technical profile will reflect the following skill set:

Essential Skillset;

  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills
  • Marine operations experience
  • IT Skills – Microsoft Office experience, in particular Word, Excel (Advanced)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience in the following areas;
    • Crew Management
    • Knowledge of vessel operation, including legislation and applicable regulations
    • Previous experience of managing remote teams
    • Previous experience of successfully managing client relationships

Desirable skillset:

  • Contract Management and commercial experience
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant discipline i.e. Marine or Business subjects
  • STCW 95 Sea Survival / Personal Survival Techniques
  • ENG1 or ML5 Seafarer Medical Certificate
  • IOSH or equivalent Managing Safely

The ideal candidate will have a proactive and flexible approach to operate the on call rota system and travel regularly throughout the UK.
