The global marine industry is set to benefit from a new generation of marine topographic mapping and seabed surface models - incorporating the popular UKHO series of nautical charts.

This new spatial database for coastal waters and the marine environment has been made possible by a new partnership between UK based independent marine data specialists, OceanWise and host and supplier, Emapsite.

A wide range of industries will be supported by the partnership including environmental regulation, renewable energy, fisheries and aquaculture, disaster mitigation and response and the engineering and construction industries.

OceanWise managing director Dr Mike Osborne said: “Emapsite is a well established platform providing online location intelligence to a range of industry sectors. It enhances our role in gathering and applying marine data to solving offshore environmental engineering and regulatory challenges.”

OceanWise marine environmental data and information supports a wide range of activities offshore from site selection and planning, through engineering design and maritime operations, to asset and compliance management. All data is acquired from existing sources or captured to meet particular requirements.
