The new electronics deliver an economical and effective unit for demanding commercial applications such as ferries, fishing boats and other workboats in continuous operation. In addition, there is a D12 version for marine auxiliary functions and a complete generator unit.
The D12 is an in-line, six cylinder marine diesel with unit injectors, Electronic Diesel Control (EDC) system and a sturdy basic design which includes a seven bearing crankshaft. The EDC system continuously monitors and controls the engine, enabling it to always operate under optimal conditions.
The D12 has almost 50% greater torque than its predecessor and overall economy benefits from the efficient combustion delivered by the unit injectors, which operate at up to 1,800 bar pressure. Emission levels are low thanks to EDC and a fresh water cooled charged-air cooler has been connected to the engine’s cooling system to enable reduced exhaust emissions when idling.
The D12 meets all existing emission stipulations regarding commercial operation and also the upcoming European and US standards.
