Nice splice lines up a Seatrade award

The Lankhorst Ropes A3 splice has gained the Seatrade Innovation in Ship Operations award.

By reducing the weight and size of the splice, the A3 splice enables single person rope handling

The award recognises the A3 splice as an innovation in maritime rope technology for ship and tug operators. With the trend towards fewer crew, the A3 splice is lighter, stronger and smaller than traditional splices, greatly improving rope handling safety during mooring and towing. There is no loss in rope strength with the A3 splice, and it makes rope handling easier as there is no doubling of the rope or splice stiffness in the mainline, commonly experienced with traditional methods. Further, by reducing the weight and size of the splice, the A3 splice enables single person rope handling.

The categories, which closely reflect the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) own aims and objectives, recognise those who have made exceptional contributions over the last year for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly shipping, celebrating innovation and commitment to improving maritime standards.

Runners up in the same category were Horizon Globex UK and PG Marine Group.
