The Ocean Safety ISO liferaft will now become the liferaft of choice on every RNLI all weather lifeboat, following a rigorous selection programme in which Ocean Safety had to produce innovative solutions to the RNLI’s requirements to exceed their own high safety standards for their fleet of vessels.
Charlie Mill, Ocean Safety, said: “We are very proud of achieving this milestone contract with the RNLI. During the contract period we will be supplying some 300 Ocean Safety ISO liferafts. This is a phenomenal success for Ocean Safety.”
Under the requirements of the replavement contract, Ocean Safety was commissioned to design a new packing and stowage solution to meet the RNLI’s new criteria. This meant designing a new liferaft container to fit the existing stowage.
RNLI personnel witnessed thorough pool testing of the liferaft before the selection was made.
Allen Stevens, senior engineer, RNLI, commented: “We are very happy with our choice of Ocean Safety for re-equipping our fleet of lifeboats. The in depth process of design and development, working closely with Ocean Safety, gives us maximum confidence.”
